LJUSHÅLLARE av järn, som sticks in i hållaren och då fungerar den som en arbetslampa. (L:1917:596)

SKÅL av tenn från Nya Lödöse. (NL:1916:221)

ELDSTÅL 1500-talets tändare. Stålet slås mot en bit flintsten. Då bildas det gnistor, som kan få saker att börja brinna. (GSMS:110001:615)

SLÄNDTRISSA av täljsten, från Nya Lödöse. Sländtrissan sitter som tyngd på den snurrande sländan, som tvinnar ullen till garn. (NL:1915:717)

In the 1500s most people owned very little. Perhaps ten items of clothing, a few cushions and a blanket, pots, plates and tools. Food was kept in chests and barrels. If a catastrophe happened, people could put most of their things in a sack and run.

WOODEN BOX, round and painted. This type of box is called a bentwood box and is used for storage. (GM:22022)

SPOONS made from silver and horn from the 14- and 1500s. One of the spoons is inscribed "Marie hielpe mech mit hoeb dit stor til dech". This means: "Mary help me, my hope lies in you". (GM:15338, GM:40969, NL:1916:2928)

KNIFE from Nya Lödöse. This type is called a bollock dagger. (GSMS:130001:4)

IRON CANDLEHOLDER. This would have been inserted into a wall. The candle was then placed in the holder and functioned as a lamp to work by. (L:1917:596)

A FIRESTEEL a lighter from the 1500s. The steel is hit with a piece of flint, which creates sparks that can ignite things. (GSMS:110001:615)

WHORL made of soapstone from Nya Lödöse. The whorl sits as a weight on the spindle, which spins wool into yarn. (NL:1915:717)
