- Object description
"GEST are delighted to present the Scandinavian premiere of YEN by Anna Jordan; winner of the prestigious Bruntwood prize for Playwriting.
Directed by Kristina Brändén Whitaker
Performed 4 November - 4 December 2015 at Gothenburg English Studio Theatre.
Yen, a tale of lost innocence that gets under your skin, explores a childhood lived without boundaries and the consequences of being forced to grow up on your own.
Hench is 16, Bobbie is 13. They live alone with their dog Taliban, playing Playstation, watching porn; surviving. Sometimes their chaotic mum Maggie visits, occasionally she passes out on the front lawn. But when Jenny knocks on the door the boys discover a world far beyond what they know, a world full of love, beauty, possibility and danger.
Yen was first performed at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester as winner of the 2013 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting in February 2015. GEST will be the first to produce this funny, tender, beautiful and brutal play following on from its original production."
