Evening dress probably late 1860s silk damask, given to the museum in 1972.
The silk damask has a floral pattern, there is extensive decoration of pleated white silk and white pearls/beads. Possibly worn by Caroline Wijk ,born Dickson in 1846, married to Olof Wijk . (their daugther "Ella" Eleonora Wijk married twice first time, von Rosen second time Waldenström and it is after her death in 1970 that the dress is given to the museum.) The provenance is unfortunately not certain. The dress consists of several parts, a bodice GM:28744:1, a bertha GM:28744:2, the skirt GM:28744:3, an apronlike overskirt GM:28744:4, and 2 belts with large sewn bows GM:28744:5 & and GM:28744:6.
